The well digging team’s final day in Santa Rosa, El Salvador was a day of triumph and celebration. While several members of the team worked to complete the well, others played soccer and tossed Frisbees with the children.
As the dedication ceremony began, residents of Santa Rosa and its two neighboring committees gathered.
The Living Water staff put on a fun puppet show for the children. The Triumph team played games like musical chairs with the kids and passed out soccer balls, footballs, Frisbees and glow sticks as prizes. Stanley, the head driller, shared a message with the village and then handed out Spanish Bibles.
Connie, the President of Santa Rosa, offered her thanks to the team for coming to the community and for their willingness to work so hard to bring them clean water.
Next, the children took turns hitting the piñatas that the team had purchased on their way to the village that morning. The Triumph team also performed the Good Samaritan skit for the crowd. Jason served as the Good Samaritan, Kevin acted as the man who was robbed and Estevan made everyone laugh as the Good Samaritan’s donkey!
As a special treat, the team spent nearly two hours taking pictures of each person in the community with an instant Polaroid camera.
As they said their goodbyes to the people of Santa Rosa, the team shared their last moments with a few last hugs and words. While they knew they would miss their new friends, our group took comfort in knowing that they were leaving behind not only the gift of clean water, but a message of hope and a brighter future.
